High-tech bathroom scales

America's obsession with watching weight has created a hot market for products that help consumers shape up. And the scale is caught up in this frenzy, with the latest craze involving sophisticated digital readouts.

Digital scales have become much more affordable since they first debuted more than a decade ago, and now the "extras" are just considered part of that package.

One item that seems to be a hit is a digital body fat scale from Taylor Precision Products. Four different users can input height, age and gender. The scale emits a low-voltage current that calculates that person's body fat percentage.
